Gia had a conference in Germany, so decided to pop over for the weekend before heading back to oz. The timing was perfect - with a Belgian Beer Festival in Grande Place on the Saturday. A bit more of a commercial, touristique affair than the village ones, but still a lot of fun and with some quality beers served up.

The problem with the local beers is that the percentage tends to be a bit on the high side. Combine that with them being VERY tasty drops, throw in a good dose of sunshine, and you have a recipe for a silly afternoon & evening. The evening was brought to an end when Gia's floral thong (the pied variety!) broke. After some time, Jamie managed to negotiate a solution,
which was Gia borrowing one of his thongs, and Jamie having one bare foot.

We took Sunday a bit easier and visited the Watermael markets and the Foret de Soignes. We managed to get Gia off to the airport in a fraction of the time it took us to pick her up from the train station (we somehow found ourselves on the road to Gent. A bit like heading back from the Perth train station and seeing a sign to Kalgoorlie!)
