Back in Perth then Straight Down South With the Kids

As usual with the long-hauls, it was nightmare trip home... In this case though, there was a serious risk that I'd miss my Heathrow connection, because Aer Lingus decided that they were no longer checking through. Missing my connection would have left me completely screwed with no chance of getting another flight at that time of year... (Thankfully - due to the massive backlog in Heathrow, my London-Singapore flight was delayed just enough that the fast-track lane gave me just enough time to collect my bags and re-check-in -- I was last onto the plane, but I'd made it!)

The rest of the trip was far less eventful - I even managed to spend a bit of time shopping in Singapore and picked up a cool new Sony DSC M1 digital camera - which partly explains the swathes of photos that you'll be wading through from now on :-)

Anyway, 24 hours or so later, I finally landed on a beautiful, sunny Perth day, and was met at the airport by my gorgeous fiancée, whom I hadn't seen since she left Dublin in August.

Jeannie had a fantastic escape planned and we raced to Jamie and Madeleine King's place for a quick shower and to collect Lucy and Max. Then, the whole happy family was off down south to hide out in a wonderful little pet-friendly place that Jeannie had discovered near the beach in Prevelly to spend some quality time together as a family before the madness of the festive season and wedding planning.

A special mention goes out to Jo Bennett who spotted us on the street in Margaret River as she was driving past, and so became the first of our friends to spend some time with us as an engaged couple.
