Weekend Sojourn in Kilkenny

Because we hadn't had enough of traveling over the last month with Belgium, Edinburgh, Loch Ness, London, Rodez, Conques, Belgium, we decided that the only thing to do before heading off to Portugal and then back to Belgium again was to hire a car and pop down to Kilkenny for the weekend.

Kilkenny City is the home town of good friend Padhraic, and the capital of County Kilkenny. It is an absolutely brilliant town, about 2 hours drive SouthWest of Dublin that will always have a special place in my heart after a couple of great visits last year with Eammon Conaghan and others... Once for the Cat Laughs festival, and again last year during the Kilkenny "Golfing" classic (a 2-day 36-pub) drinking crawl.

Without such a rigourous drinking schedule, Kilkenny is even more perfect for a leisurely stroll incorporating exploration of the cultural sights and a cheeky pint or two at some classic old Irish pubs.
