Fight for the Golden Stilt

It is quite amazing the amount of random freaky shit we keep stumbling on (or it stumbles on us!). We've had a few parades so far - with giant puppet people, faux horses, and sillely clad males (from 2 to 70yrs) in various garb - some carrying baskets of oranges. We had actually read in a guidebook some time earlier about Namur's biggest event of the year being the Combat de l'Échasse d'Or, but it was by chance that we happened to be visiting the region on the right day. Minding our own business eating some lunch we heard a bit of noise nearby, and went to investigate. Great stuff! I think it should be an Olympic sport.
