Wedding - Ceremony

The ceremony was set to kick off at 4:30, the bride was only a 'little' bit late - making a grande entrance at 5:20! Fortunately there were a few beers floating around to keep the guests (and the groom!) happy in the meantime.

It was quite an experience to be standing there in front of our nearest and dearest trying to get our vows right AND to get the blasted ring on!

After umming and aaahing about the format and readings, we were really happy with the end result. Mad and Jamie, who'd just celebrated their 5 year wedding anniversary did a beautiful reading from The Prophet. And we chanced to pick Jessika's favourite poet for her Nanushka reading.

The whole thing was all rather strange in that we were conscious of every loooong second - and yet it all seemed to whir by so fast!!!

And who was the mystery man with the wig and mo you may ask...? He is the mad dentist from Broome, Joe Vernon - the other best man who 'could not make it'. Jamie had thrown tradition and asked both Shane and Joe to be his 'best men'. Joe was always a doubtful attendee as his lovely missus Maggie had a bun in the oven ready to pop. A few days before the wedding Joe said he definitely wouldn't be able to make it. But make it he did! - even if keeping it a surprise meant hiding in the pantry for a good part of the afternoon!
