Belgian beer tasting weekend with Shane
Shane arrived for his housewarming visit on Friday 12th May - yup the day after our arrival. We had sent instructions for the easiest means to reach a nearby trainstation for us to pick him up. Unfortunately there was a rail strike on so a bit of ingenuity was required on Shane's behalf to get him here safe and sound
An impressive array of Belgian beer was sampled over the weekend. By impressive I mean the quantity (about 30 different beers) not the quality. Many of the random grabs from the local supermarket were 'tippers' (down the drain she goes). However there were still some lovely finds. And with a couple of thousand more beers to test there are bound to be more. We developed a tasting spreadsheet rating the beers, which Jamie is going to tweak and put up on a separate page.
We found a fab (weekly - yay!) market down the road on the Sunday. Lots of deluxe cheeses, flowers and everything else you could need. Also visited the Fete de Fleur at the nearby church where I joined in with the Greek (?)dancing demonstration. Hard work.
