i'm dreaming of a ....

At 33 years old I had never experienced proper snow. I do remember desperate attempts to 'make' snow as a kid, when we had some heavy hail in Sydney. Mushing up hail with a rock and trying to build a mini snowman. My first experience of minor (improper) snow was only earlier this year - a few gentle flakes in Ireland, and also in Brussels when we came over in February.
Jamie had woken in the middle of the night and looked out the window to see the traditional 'blanket' of snow in the backyard. He got me up to have a look, and it really was an amazing sight, especially with the wee hours light.
We waited till early morning to introduce the dogs (and Olly) to their first taste of snow. Lots of fun! They were happy to keep chasing balls which seemingly vanished. And didn't seem to even mind catching them. I found it hilarious to get some good hits on Jamie while he was busy taking photos. Yup - simple pleasures... : - D
Snow at this time of year is quite uncharacteristic here. They usually only get max. a weeks good snow a year, and generally in January. This only lasted a couple of days. Our Christmas guests (Ali and Heather) were hoping for a white Christmas here, but its been years since they've had that here unfortunately. However, they've also said that this will be the coldest winter in ages, and with the freak early snow already... anything is possible!

Yay - how much fun is snow? I'm not sure where the 'white Christmas' thing comes from, but there's hardly been any in London since records began, so I think you should head (way) north or up into the mountains if you want to see one. We had a fab one 2 years ago, and Freddy the snowman kept us company for weeks :-)
Also - no idea why I've only just been able to see this entry - I had a look at the blog yesterday (some people out here are looking;-) and there was nothing later than the 'way cool' item.
Cheers
