Just a quickie

You know how I said last week that I might be able to give a more reliable count of the babies in a week? Well, it seems that I was wrong.

I am fairly confident in saying that their number hasn't decreased significantly, and I can confidently say that it hasn't increased. I have a general impression that there are around 2 dozen, and they are definitely beginning to break into 3 different types.

About one third are almost all black (even with mostly black eyes) with just white heads. These appear to be slightly longer than the others also (around 2.5cm - but it might just be an optical illusion caused by the colour.) Occasionally, when some of these catch the light, the black is starting to sparkle a little blue-ish. I have a suspicion that these guys might turn out to be males.

The other two thirds are about evenly distributed between being nearly all silver/white, with an occasional black spot, or mostly white with a fairly large black diamond towards the end of their tails. The diamond ones have slightly blacker eyes.

I'm afraid that's all I can add to last week's update. Maybe next week?

P.S. Sorry there haven't been any real updates for a while. I've been mad busy trying to sort out the mess that is our digital music collection (nearly there) and have also been spending quite a bit of time on the beer blog. Still lots of work to do, but I'm pretty happy with the progress so far. What do you think?
