Autumn Harvest

While our cherry tree is struggling (we have plans for some nice breadboards), and our plum tree has had it, our apple tree produced a bumper crop this summer. Unfortunately, both the tree and us have been challenged by some particularly bad pruning carried out in the past, leaving the tree off kilter and all the best apples out of reach. Jamie set about remedying the situation, pruning it within an inch of its life. All for the best though...

While the many, many retrieved apples weren't pretty to look at, they were pretty sweet to eat. We are both BIG lovers of chutney, which is a little hard to find here (jams galore though). That problem is now solved for at least another 6 months. We made up jars of spicy apple chutney, and another CWA cookbook (thanks Mad and Jamie!) apple chutney.   Posted by Picasa
