Happy Birthday Mr King!

What better way to turn 40, and to look back and remember all the times you don't really remember, than with some good mates at the isle of Rotto. Excellent choice Jamie.
I was able to personally benefit from Jamie's coming of age, in being able to catch up with close friends in an intimate, isolated (no escape!) setting the weekend after arriving. I hadn't been to Rotto for some time, but it still felt the same. Jamie's (O)absence was noticed, particularly when someone was required to climb on to a roof. Jamie (K) only did half as good a job (the missing half being falling off). The peacocks were out in full force, showing their wares. Jase was most impressed with their 'I'll do you Jimmy; Shimmy Shimmy Shimmy' attitide. The peahens weren't greatly impressed by his impersonation though.
The house we were in was ace! (apparently done up my Laurie Connell)and was the site of some beautiful singalong sessions (IC soundtrack a hit), smooth dance moves and innovative utensil usage.
In traditional Rottnest style the Sunday boat was missed accidentally on purpose by some (the Parishes), while others (Budge) made desperate, and sadly unsuccesful, attempts to negotiate a longer stay.
With Mad and Jamie departing on the 11am ferry I had the island to myself till 430. I thought I'd do the traditional Rotto cycling thing (not done in adulthood), but planned on a lazy ride to the Basin where I would lie on the beach till it was time to ride to the ferry. Unfortunately a wrong turn meant I wound up on the opposite side of the island - tackling many hills in the process (i had no idea it was so hilly). I really had had no intent to physically exert myself that day at all. I found Jeannie's Lookout though, which really made it all worthwhile
