SWIFT has opted to pay for some language classes for us, but with the move and other business we haven't activated anything yet. You can definitely get by here without French... lots of pointing, smiling, mumbled attempts. But it does get wearying sometimes.

Our landlord is a couple of doors down, and fortunately speaks pretty good English, so that has been a blessing. However, the local policeman who visited today didn't. He came to just check that we were residing where we said we were, for our registration. As luck would have it, I couldn't find the passports (in the apartment) or my licence (my awol purse was in the car) so just ended up smiling alot and pointing at all the moving mess. Don't think he was greatly impressed.
